Garage find of landrover bits-- help identify parts

can i start with a silly question; The RTC3184 oil filter element goes where? I have replaced my oil filter on my 2.25 petrol 90 and it came in a sealed unit. What am i missing here? also look in the attached file. what are these two similar parts? thanks

clutch slave cylinders ,rtc3184 oil filter is for series engines (defender 2.25s are similar but with some differences like that)

Series engines have a container bolted to the side of the engine that the filter fits in - what they did before cartridge filters were invented.
