There was someone a year or two ago that had a range rover classic shell galvanised, I'm sure it was in a pull out in one of the mags, so it can be done
I would be interested in manufacturing a chassis from scratch, the problem is getting all the dimensions for the fixing points, i wonder if there is engineering drawings out there for the remanufacture of parts?
should be able to pick up an old chassis good enough to use as a template for cheap enough. once stripped a lot will just be sent to the scrappies
I'm in the process of stripping 2 discos to make 1 'good' one, so i'll have a spare chassis at some point.
Its not that easy to copy off an existing chassis though thats 20 years old, lots of brackets might be out of position. I'm confident i could copy it just not sure how accurate it'd be to the original spec.
could you not compare both chassis? any deviation, consult a third?
must be some chassis plans somewhere
