Hi Folks,

My Td5 Auto 2001 has developed a wurring noise when I first turn the key before firing up. It seems to come from down by the ignition area behind the dash somewhere. After starting it is still there.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Have Air con fitted, I have the heater on econ so air con not working ? Someone will correct me I`m sure. Does the air con work all the time or just when on auto?

Are you sure it's not just the fuel pump priming? You can hear that when you switch the ignition on before starting the engine. If you have your climate control switched off completely, you won't hear that. The fuel pump noise is a metallic dull whirring noise, and 'seems' to come from the area you describe.

I thought fuel pump was at back under wheel arch? yes this does sound like a high pitch` bee` noise when you turn the key but dont turn her over. This wurring is definately by my right knee (right hand drive car) somewhere.

it might be the switch for moving the headlights up or down that is by your right knee.i know that it is just a switch but the sound from motor travels put your ear there then try the left side.
