I need to replaced the in tank fuel pump on my Landy. Is there a any difference between a LR branded pump and a non branded pump apart from the £135 difference in price?

I fitted a Allmakes fuel pump 2 years ago and it's been fine, it's a little noiser than the one it replaced but I'm not too bothered as this one works and the last one didn't.

I fannied about with a cheap one from ebay, it fitted ok and worked ok, noisier than the genuine LR on though. Downside was that it didn't read the fuel level properly - reserve light came on when there was 20+ litres still in the tank. Swapped it for a genuine LR pump, well worth it, quieter, more accurate and less likely to screw the electrics up. When I asked about fuel pump replacements someone on the forum said that the had used a cheapie and it ended up blowing their electrics somewhere - an extra £400 to fix.

I bought a bearmach its no noisier but as you say they dont read very accurate. my light came on with 50 ltrs in the tank.the pump was replaced and before fitting new i removed the sender from my original pump and fitted to new pump spot on.

i got a cheap one the other day and fitted it, spot on and quieter than the origional but i think thats because the oe one was on its way out. fuel gauge read totaly wrong, apparently i went from a 1/4 tank on oe pump to running on fumes with the non oe, i swapped the senders over and its fine now, quick and easy job
