Hi Guys

I have a small leak in my fuel tank and want to buy a new one and fit myself (getting more confident now  )

I was going to buy the tank and sender unit but wondered what fixings I will need as they are looking tired too, also is there anything else I should need gaskets/washers etc?

it's a '95 300TDI 90

many thanks

Chay

Hi hext, I replaced my fuel tank last week, it took me about 3 hours to get the old one off and about an hour to fit the new one.

All I will say is get yourself a 13mm rachet ring spanner and buy a good tank, not a thin ****ty one from Britpart or or the similar. I got my tank off iannotts who is a member here on landyzone, and from what I can gather it's an original land rover tank. You wont need any gaskets or seals just make sure your new tank comes with a sender unit. You will probably need some large jubilee clips for the filler hose because the sit in the wheel arch they wont come off easy so you will need to hacksaw them off. Make sure you fix it soon because the small leak will soon become a big leak and your tank will empty fast.

Apart from that it's a piece of cake to do. Here is a link to a part company who supply the good tanks that are made of good grade steel and not tin foil. There a £135 but not sure if they come with sender unit.

Fuel Tank 90 from AA243343 upto WA159806 [ESR2242] - £135.00 : RJS Land Rover Spare Parts, Specialist suppliers of Land Rover parts for all Land Rover Vehicles
