just fitted a 200tdi to my series wich was a petrol vehicle before and i am using the same tank, is the filter in the tank on a petrol a finer gauze than the diesel one? i seem to remember some years ago i put a diesel engine in a van and after about ten miles it would cut out and turned out to be this tank filter, just want to be sure

It's a fairly thick gauze on the petrol ones not like the fine guaze on some tanks. If it's like mine you'll find there is more crap coming through from the guaze rusting than anything else and that the guaze has split anyway.

Like James says its quite easy to remove. The sediment bowl and inline filter should protect your timing pump

cheers its a plastic filter and i am sure that the diesel one is a coarser gauze as diese3l is more viscous than petrol, i'll check with land rover or just poke a few bigger holes in the gauze
