whilst under re sealing my chassis the other day I noticed my fuel tank cradle has rotted and is missing the central third,
It passed an Mot in May and I haven't lost any big chunks since so guessing it was like this for the Mot so is this not an Mot check?
My other question is I've been on direct to Land Rover and the part is discontinued, I've been on to a few other parts dealers and they can't get this part does anyone know where I may be able to get hold of one? Or know any warehouses that are full of new old stock on the shelves?
Part number is NTC5787.

Thanks in advance Iain.

Seems someone else also had the same issue, and overcame it by using steel strip to fabricate a cradle.

Thanks this may be the way I have to go, as finding one is difficult, only thing is that one is in much better shape than mine, I'm missing a section the whole width of the strap only thing keeping the 2 halves on vehicle is the bolts lol

Hi
Just had to do the same on mine a 94 TDI. Cradle mounting had rusted clean though one end. The cradle and tank was resting on the ARB. After looking about had to buy a tank guard about £70. Quite easy to remove and replace .

Thanks can I ask where you got your tank guard from for £70 I don't mind paying about this as it is kind of what I expected for a tank strap and it will give a little added protection aswell. Just didn't want to go down that route if possible just yet but with lack of availability I may be looking at this option.

I looked everywhere. But gave up and got the guard from paddocks. Although everywhere sells them. Straightforward to fit. I trimmed mine a bit to save removing tow brackets.
