Fuel tank and shield mounting

Hey y’all ;-)
I’m going to put the diesel tank back in the 110 shortly along with its protective shield.
I cannot remember if the shield is hard up against the bottom of the tank or if it’s the other side of the bottom rubber mounts (between parts 9 and 10).
Could someone take a look for me please?

From memory of doing mine I think it is against the tank, but my 110 is in the barn so will not be able to check until the weekend for you.

From memory, the shield is hard against the tank and the rubbers go below the shield and on top od the tank.
I recall it being a bit of a faff as the shield wasn't the perfect shape and needed a bit of help with a jack.

I think it's up against the tank as mine was stuck fast and I didn't dare try to separate it.

My s2/90 and d3 are all hard against the tank bottom, crap idea in my opinion.

Tanks back in and I thought id share my technique as it’s not that easy on your own.
I first installed just the tank without the shield, only really caring about the upper rubbers and the nuts on only loosely. This way you don’t have to worry about the weight of the shield.

I then strapped the tank up in position with some ratchet straps, ensuring only the strap parts were on the tank bottom. When secure I removed all the nuts.
I then put the shield in place under the tank over the studs with the aid of a jack, and when happy I bolted it up loosely and removed the straps. Finally added all the rubbers one at a time and bolted up tight.
Anyhow, all in place now and no real dramas.

The worst part of it for me is that there’s no drain in the lowest part of the shield. The water had obviously collected in the recess in the shield and rotted the bottom of the tank. There’s a drain in there now!
