fuel sender question

my fuel guage isnt working so i think the fuel sender may be broken

the landy didnt used to be a V8 but that shouldn't make any difference to the sender?

this is what my sender looks like


just checking these are ok for petrol and if any 1 knows if its compatible with my fuel gauge?

landy is a 1985 90

how do you know its not the guage ?

if i earth the guage, the pointer goes to full, so i guess thats working ?

Yer can check the sender, the terminals going from front to back, the float points frontwards, are 1st goes to the gauge, 2nd to the warning light and the third is earth. I don't see why it should make any difference whether there in petrol or diesil, you could check part numbers to be sure though.

ahh, there is only 2 wires one mine! the 3rd plug is blanked off with a plastic plug thing!, so maybe this one should be earthed?
