can anyone tell me how to get the fuel pump out of the tank on a td5 disco .
do you have to remove all the diesel tank or is there an inspection hatch you can get to it through the floor ?
thanks carl .

Hi Carl, there is an access hatch. To get to it you need to remove the boot floor carpet and rubber mat and then you'll see it.

Cheers

right got to fuel pump and it sounds noisey almost like its sucking in air . will this be the fuel pump or just read something about some seals going and making it sound noisey because its struggling to clear the air .
does this make sense ? if so where are these seals ?
carl ..

u will end up totally burned out if u try to repair it........even if its not cheap replace the pump with a new one i say:eek: and new seal too

Sounds like the copper sealing washers on the injectors to me... had the same thing, removed and cleaned pump, no better, started getting arsey to start, got washers done and fine ever since....

Hi bud,
just done this job on mine...removed rear seasts,as it says in the manual...no need.
Simply get a stanley knife and cut two lines through the carpet, down between the rear seats(when they are down).Pull the carpet from under the reast door strip, and there's your access plate.
Remove plate,and there's your pump.
Sounds over the top,but once you've tucked the carpet back under, and smoothed the carpet down, you can't tell it's been disturbed, especially if you've got a rear luggage mat in.
20 mins all in.
Best of luck.

Duncan.

In reply to the question about 4 pipes, afaik one is fuel to filter, one is return from filter, one is to fpr on engine block and one is fuel return from gallery through cooler to tank.
