Evening all.
The other half filled up with diesel yesterday at tesco !!!! She definitely put diesel in and it is now running like a bag of **** ! I have bypassed the filter and put different fuel in and it runs fine. What i need is a quick way to get the remaining fuel out of the tank quickly. Any help gratefully received. Luke

it not just the tank the line will need cleaning out i dont think drilling a hole is the way to go. take the tank out empty it clean it

isnt the pump in the tank? cant you bridge the relay to the pump, run it empty, put some good fuel it then run it out again?

if you can get a pipe onto the fuel line maybe gravity will help and allow you to syphon it out, park the car on some kind of higer grond/ramp/ledge/full suspention height to allow you to get containers uner the pipe and lower than the fuel tank???????

well thats how i'd takle it anyway!

Well it wasn't the fuel its the head gasket. I thought it was fuel because the smoke coming out of the exhaust smelt very funny, like it was running on heating oil !! When I bypassed the filter and it ran OK was because the engine had been stood for a while and the pressure in the in the cooling system had dropped off and so wasn't pushing water into the cylinder. After I got all the fuel out (with a small fuel pump and length of pipe stuffed down the filler neck) and put fresh stuff in it ran fine for a few minutes then started missing and smoking again !!! Done a chemical sniff test (I know, should have done it first) and it confirmed my worst fears. Off with the head now !! Any body got any suggestions how to sort the timing without the correct tools ?
