My engine is misfiring. . .I'm pretty sure its a misfire. NO - I haven't installed any water pumping devices into my fuel injection.. :) yet. . .

Heres a list of symptoms.

1. When I go into idle, it's not constant. When pressing accelerator, sometimes engine wants to stall.

2. When I go into 3rd or gear down or up it begins to misfire.. .

at this point. . .

2a) If i slam down the accelerator the misfire propogates and worsens.

2b) If I release the accelarator, the engine resolves, and then I can climb to a higher rev again / / that is until the misfire repeats at some point.

To me this sounds like the fuel injection system. Could it be something else ? Same thing happened to my fathers BMW last week ! So, we're a bit supcious of the local fuel stop.

Has anyone tried to re-condition their fuel injection system DIY ? I've poured some STP 'jet' fuel (cleaner) in with a full tank, to clean the gizmo in the thingi. . .only a 10th through the tank / so really haven't given it a chance to clean up good yet.

Also . . . Is there a program/cable to read Freelander computer using a laptop ?
 
Seems as though the STP is working its charm ! Engine is misfiring less and less as I get through the tank.

Other than that / no one seems to have offered advice regarding fuel injection system. So, fuel injection systems just get dirty, and STP jet fuel or similar product does the job.
 
You've spoilt the game now,I was hoping he would go in the parts dept and ask for a rotor arm for a TD4 !
 
While he is at the motor factors he could also get a box of blue engine sparks to go with the plugs, leads and rotor arm. lol
