its air in system, either from the recent works or via the pressure regulator.

Sometimes it can take more than the 3-5 minutes quoted to bleed.

Before you spend money, check fpr for any leaks. Make sure your fuel isnt on red and then go for decent half hour drive - it should clear

what year is the landrover ? ..once the truck is started does it run normal ? does it ever cut out ?

its a 2000 w reg, never cut out at the time just a pig to start.... anyway the story now well and truley continues....
ive now had the injectors re-seated with new o rings and copper washers yet again (ratty, i should have listened to start with) anyway, she is now running spot on as she did before BUT and im now really ready to burn it, she is now using more fuel than ever. i used to get 600miles plus to a full tank, im lucky to get half that now, what the **** is wrong now????????? ive checked the usual suspects and all seems to be well. no fuel in oil, ive already had the fuel pressure regulator done and the fuel cooler, as mentioned before ive had the injectors done (for the fourth time) and ive also had a new in tank fuel pump, done the fuel filter too.
please if anyone can help let me know, im now at defcom 1 and ready to get rid

just to add, ive been thinking long and hard about this and have come up with a few more options to why she's more fuel. is she actually using more fuel???? now then, could the new in tank fuel pump be giving a wrong reading likewise could the fuel gauge be faulty??? theres only way to find that out and that is to run the tank to empty and see what mileage i get. again ive got a different set of clocks too so will fit them and see what reading i get.
if theres any other ideas out there im more than willing to listen, cheers guys, jon

Jodo same problem as yours i've got. Also had head serviced, and after that got problems with start
2 days ago i threw away air bleeding filter, and now she starts much more better, but sometimes cuts out after start. Also i think that battery should be well charged, otherwise it wont start.

It's only a guess but what are the chances that your speedo was previously set to show kilometers before and now it's been changed to show miles? 560 km would be about 350 miles.

Do you seem to be filling it up more often or are you just going by the mileage shown on the speedo?

No ned to run tank empty. Check your speedo is reading miles not km, then brim the tank, do a few miles, brim it again at the same pump, do the basic maths. Running the tank to empty is not recommended. Only CharlesY gets 600m on a tank!

thanks to all who have responded to my dramas.....
ref the fuel gauge not reading correctly, i can confirm this now as ive taken out the fuel sender from the tank and changed it for another. the tank was almost full but the fuel gauge was reading 1/4 of a tank. any ideas why this is???
also when i accelerate and get to around 2500 revs the engine starts to cough and splutter and judder, any ideas please???

Don't know if this will help you, but I spent 4 months trying to solve a problem I had on my TD5 - it turned out that there was a lot of crap in my tank which was blocking the filters on the in-tank fuel pump. My original pump was ok, but it was while I was fitting a new replacement I discovered the crap in my tank.

She's been going great ever since...........It might be worth dropping your tank, pouring out the fuel into a bucket and see what comes out. I cleaned my tank out very carefully with lots of clean rags before I was satisfied with it.

No Kidding either, but it would bust your nut doing it!

The best ever was a run from here to Guildford, 417 miles, on cruise control at 55 - 56 mph all the way, got a clean run overnight, and used ....
wait for it ..... exactly 44 litres of diesel to do it, well over 42 mpg.

On the way home I was going a bit brisker at 60-ish, and it used a tad under 50 litres.

TD5 can be very good on fuel, but it would make you mad doing it.

Over-all, my TD5 is usually just under 30 mpg in winter, and just over in summer.

On the pump subject, I had what I thought was a pump fail, and fitted a new one, but after it was out I found the screens were choked, and now I have cleaned them the pump runs and sounds fine, so it might be OK. I won't be binning it.
