Fuel guage not registering

Hi there everyone,

this is my first post on the forum. Yesterday I bought myself a '93 Discovery with 148000 miles on it. Full service history, and the body work is almost 100 % rustless! The only problem the car has, at least I hope, is that the fuel guage doesn't register at all, the 'empty' light is on and the needle is at the bottom. Anyone know how I could fix it?

I apologise if this question has already been asked, but perhaps someone could re direct me?

probably a fuel sender fault

Thanks Clutchdust, a fuel sender fault. Is this something I can sort out myself? I would really like to do as much work as I can on the car rather than taking it to a garage, as I want to learn how this thing works! Or maybe you would reccomend this is better taken to a garage?
