my fbh is on permanently at the moment. It’s cold but not below 5 degrees.
I’ve pulled the plug out of the fbh but now it’s running very cool. Thermostat problem?
Might plug the fbh in again and see if it warms engine up a bit.
Any ideas?

It's probably the environmental sensor that's failed. You can unplug it and see if the FBH continues to run. If not, then that's the problem.

As long as the engine is up to temperature, then the FBH running isn't a huge issue. The burner only fires when the engine coolant is below 75°C, which it will if the thermostat has stuck open.

Mine does that at the moment, pretty sure it's the environmental sensor that's dodgy on mine. It warms everything up nice and quick though! When I get back home it's running on something like an idle mode I think. If it's a slightly warmer day then it doesn't do it, which is what makes me think it's the sensor not reading temps quite right as it's not below 5 degrees here at the moment. Apparently it's not a difficult job to replace as long as you can get it unclipped from the inside of the bumper.
