A little help gents.
So I've replaced the bushes top and bottom on my front shock. All went smooth untill the last nut.

How do you get the last bottom nut back on. I'm about 3mm short for the nut to pick up the thread due to the new bushes.
I've tried putting in hot water, jacking the car. Currently the Bush is clamped in a vice for a few hours in the hope it might squash a little

Jacking it up won't help as tge shock just pushes up
In the past I've had to cut one of the rubber bushes in half to get the nut on

Leave the washer , the thick one behind the nut off, find a thin washer that allows nut to screw on. Do it up and leave for a bit.[ hour] Undo remove thin and fit original washer. Much the same as your vice method.
