Hey all

Anyone heard of the front prop joint (where it goes into the IRD) drying out and causing vibrations? Heard some mechanic in the pub going on about it and was just wondering if he was talking from the correct end :D

I had to superglue a split in the rubber gaiter on one cos it split and was throwing all the grease out.Enough time and I guess it would pack up.The gaiter is not serviced separately - part of the shaft.;)

this is the front prop cv. . .if you squeeze it by hand you will be able to feel the greese ousing through the internals of the cv [of course look fer splits] you will get very little play front to rear /up un down [its a know thing] if excess then its shot symptons= er vibration in transmission, donks when takin up drive, when its really pluckt scaping metalic noise can be heard. . .:)

as 8 sez - its a new prop jobby - my gaiter split and it cost an arm and leg. The usual fix if caught early enuf is exactly wot 8 did - superglue the split to keep the grease in.

There is a repair kit available from all good main dealers ;) for £60 which includes a new joint but was just wondering if they were prone to wearing out. Its got to the point now with Tiny I am trying to be pre-emptive due to the miliage!!!:D
