Hi All,

I'm finally catching up with overdue maintenance that the POs probably never did. I've come to greasing the front prop. I've found the grease nipple on the UJ, but both RAVE and Haynes:rolleyes: say to remove the blanking plug on the sliding joint and to replace with a grease nipple.

Now, I cannot find the blanking plug! Am I going completely mad (very likely) or did not all props have a greaseable sliding joint? It has a concertina type gaiter from the UJ to the prop.

It's a 2004 TD5 Auto.

Cheers All!

The ones with the gaiter are meant to be sealed units that don't require greasing (whether this is true I've no clue). Anyhow if you're concerned you can whip the prop off and check for rotational play between the two ends, that will indicate spline wear.

TBH it's the UJ's that are way more likely to be knackered.
