Hello,

Im not a mechanic and a virgin at this job so here goes.

Right the front Axle is off.
While its off i thought i'd ask a couple of questions.
How hard is it to change the pinion seal? (well i think thats what it called).
The seal that goes between the prop and the diff (within the diff).
What tools would i need?
Can this be done while the diff is still on the axle?

I have looked for this information ---- not in my manual.....@~%$ (swear word)
Cant find it on the site---- $%@* (another swear word).

I am taking plenty of pic's during the fitting of the new brakes, suspension and tidying of the front and back axles as part of my disco project and all will be posting once re-fitted on the car.

1.Depending on your skills, easy.
2.Spanners, socket with bar, torque-wrench, pliers if you have a split pin to remove + a screwdriver or tool for releasing the old seal and any PPE you think u require.
3.Yes

And have a look in busters-photo-tour-land rover-repairs for How to Do It

Right,

Thank you,

The only thing i don't have is torque wrench but i have been thinking about purchasing, there are many with different range settings. i'll look againg on the internet market place.

Iv'e got some time before i start the job as a massive cleanup of the frot axle is underway.
The rear axle is almost ready to have all the new bits fitted.
