I have a 2005 facelift TD4.

I have bought light grills for it. The rear ones were a doddle. However, the front ones require drilling and messing around, and the instructions are a bit pants.

Any advice for fitting - even if "Take it to someone to get it done." - much appreciated.

Thanks

There is a kit available that doesn't require drilling your grill or wing......

Can't seem to lay my hands on the link, but basically they clipped on with clips that fitted to the top of the headlight. Looked much neater.......in my opinion.

It's the idea of drilling that scares the cack out of me!!! I think I might pay a body shop friend of mine to do it for me!! Mind you if there is a clip on variety then that would be loads better, and will re-sell mine on ebay!!

Yeah... the more I look at this, the more I want someone to do it for me!!! It's not clear from the instructions what drill size to use where etc. I think it's asking for trouble DIYing it!

Yer showing us up ffs.

Instructions:

Take light guars out of plastic bag/box
Line them up on yer Freelander
Make sure they is in the corect place - outline of grill compared to light lens
Mark location of 2 holes needed for the bungs which slot inwards of the light, in the bumper
Get a ruler to measure the size of said bungs
Drill 2 holes as above in bumper where yer marked it
Slide the bungs in
Slide the guard in the bungs
Now level up the guard un mark the holes in the wing panel. This may be offset wiv little pillars
Measure fitting for wing holes so you know the drill size
Remove guard un drill wing hole to correct size
Fit guard and secure wiv screws or fixings supplied in wing panel
Repeat for t'other side of Freelander

Or tell us where yer is un someone will do it fer ya if yer travel to them. Porky's yer best bet as eeze er furra bread. If yer too far away he can travel to any destination int rocket.

Thanks for compliments, lol... limp wristed... bit harsh!!! Clumsy though and guaranteed to break something!

Me and the dad in law done mine. Drilled a small hole first and went up in size bit by bit. We wanted the grills to be a bit tight in the holes.

Drilling it is easy especially the plastic wings :)

We all had to start somewhere & I know I wouldn't have liked to start out by drilling into my cars bodywork so maybe cut the guy a little slack.

Might be best for you to source one of the clip-on kits just now & keep plugging away with other jobs. You'll soon gain confidence & in a couple of years time you'll be much happier doing any bodywork drilling you require in future. Best of luck.

I did mine the other week - after them sitting in the box for a year!!!

Couldn't bring myself to drills the holes in case I foofed it up.....but looking back, it was a doddle!! Just make sure you have the template lined up and drill a pilot hole first!!
