Shouldn't be - the immobilisation is all done and controlled off the logic board - which if you are swapping that, then it shouldn't be a problem. Cruise control is managed by the engine ECU on a diesel, and a separate ECU on a petrol. The cruise control pump is supplied power off the power board on a petrol model - but I would presume that when the logic board is told it's a diesel engine it then lets the diesel ECU sort all the cruise control stuff out. I'll have a look in the ETM a bit later on the cruise control circuits to see if there are any possible trip-ups - but I really don't think it will make a difference!

I'd forgotten the switch wasn't latched.

Decision time. I either don't bother or I swap my logic board into a Highline BECM. I'm disappointed the wiring diagrams on RAVE don't have "Highline" only or somesuch on the fogs page. I did check. I also Googled the differences between highline and lowline but came up with diddly squat! Should have asked Marty it seems!

MrGorsky, I'll give you a quid for that Highline if it is any good and it still has all the bits. :)

Got a few weeks as I'm busy now for he next few weeks straight.
A whole £1, you spend thrift.:D:D

Just an update. Swapping the power-board on the early BECMs doesn't work. It sees the switch but doesn't tell the power board to switch on. Many thanks to Marty for figuringthat out in 5 minutes because I would have been there hours.

As a side note, my BECM seems to be original and looks like new inside. It has v36 written on it so presumably they went through a lot of versions before going into production?!

New to the forum - hello guys.
Bought a range rover 3 weeks ago, been fixing most of the previous owners bodges with wiring etc.
Radio display comes on and finds stations but zero sound from speakers or subwoofer.
Also lh indicators don't work. In fact lh repeater and lhr indicators both stay on with ignition off, but lnf doesnt come on at all.
All bulbs ok, earths ok.
Guess its the dreaded becm. Found the pinout from the becm connector to the fag lighter had blown on the power board so fixed that but it didnt resolve the stereo or indicator issue.
Has anyone got a spare high line power board for sale or alternatively a complete working high line late unit so i can swap the logic board over instead as its easier than swapping the power board ?
I dont know if a 2000 power board would be the same as an earlier one or even if a later logic board would power an early high line board.
Can someone provide me with a few answers please ?

Think Marty has some spare BECMs lying around. For fixing them then Tomcat's recommendation cannot be beaten.

I have some spare power boards kicking about, yes.

I would normally say that I'd have a look at repairing your current one as I have spare MOSFETS and bits kicking about for them aswell, and recently had luck at repairing a couple of power board and logic board faults.

The down side is that I'm away working until near the end of September, so not a lot of help to you at the moment, sorry!

If you don't ahve it sorted by the time I'm back then drop me a message and I'm happy to either take a look at yours or dig out a replacement power board.

Thats very kind of you Marty but I managed to get a secondhand becm and swapped the board over so its sorted now.
The issue withe the vehicle now is that the amp and cd player are both dead. There is power to both but the cd wont eject the cassette and although the head unit finds stations I get zero sound from the speaker system. I gather that the xqk100340 amp is notoriously unreliable and unrepairable and there aren't any equivalent units that could be used as a substitute. The freelander and discovery ones would only power the front speakers and not the subwoofer. Surprised that the same system wasn't used in other mg rover group vehicles.

Glad it's all sorted!

Yes, the DSP amp is know to cause problems - I have worked a way to use the older style door amps to replace the DSP amp in the boot and get the sound system working again, but haven't been at home enough to sort out useful things like connectors, and making wiring looms etc.. I think you can use one of the other DSP amps from Disco or even BMW vehicles, but it isn't a straight drop in replacement - as the pin configurations for both inputs and outputs are a bit different. But with a bit of messing about with swapping pins and adding a couple of extra wires, it could be possible to do - You would need to get the pinouts of the replacement amplifier and then match the P38 connector wiring up to it, to try and get a working solution.

CD Stacker - I think the later ones had a fuse on the unit aswell, so maybe if it's getting power but not doing anything then check that. It could also be that the magazine has jammed, so it's not able to eject properly, but i'm sure if that's the case you could take the lid of the stacker and see what's jamming it and get it freed up...

Marty

I got the old one out and dismantled it to get the cd magazine out but haven't tried it since because i bought a 2nd hand one from ebay which does work.
Not much use until i sort the amp though !
I suppose i could go down the separate door amp route eventually if all else fails.
Got a new front propshaft to fit as there is some vibration through the bodywork when driving and got another bottom tailgate to fit - same colour luckily. Mine has rusted through along the bottom lip so the skin is detached along the bottom edge.
Then all it needs is some new tyres. I am thinking of some insa turbo rangers as we get a lot of snow where I live rather than nokians or road tyres - what do you think ?

Talk to one of the Wills about tyres. @wil2813 I think.

Nexen Roadians seem to be popular. For winter tyres I had some Winterthur winter tyres but got shot because they were noisy so avoid those, IMO. I had some Scorpian Snow ones and they were OK. Grabber Snow were OK too.
