Me front diffs knackered.
I took a REAR halfshaft out and it's 24 spline.
Would I be correct in assuming that the front diff should also be 24 spline?
Is there any numbers on the front diff that will tell me what spline it is?
Don't wanna have to take out front diff then order a new diff as it will mean landy off the road for about a week.
cheers

your rear diff should be a salisbury which where 24 spline ,your front should be 10 spline, although you never know whats been altered,10 spline axle will have 20mm thick drive flange as measured between bolt and hub 24 spline flange is 15mm

should have the stronger front CV's that year aswell are your drive flanges the older ype? its usually a good indicator

the stronger cvs can be seen by looking at shaft that goes into cv later type step down as shaft enters cv earlier type remain similar size ,was done to make cv spider stronger

It was done to make the spider stronger however the older type remain the competition choice as the shafts are the larger type and do not rip out unlike some later ones. If you keep yor swivels topped up with ep90/one shot and never run them dry they will last forever. people get upset when a cv goes but its more than likley out of oil got hot, done high milage and or had a long hard life by previous owner.
