Right,
fitted diff to axle and fitted axle to land rover, all Ok so far...

Came to fit the little steering track rod protector bit to the underside of the diff and the flippin bolts are the wrong thread. I just took the flippin bolts out of me old axle, carried them across the yard in the flippin rain , got meself under the 110 equipt with all the bits and a spanner of the correct size and the flippin thongs wont screw into me new diff.

Ooooh I am cross..:frusty:

Any one any idea why it's a different thread please:pop2:

early ones imperial, later ones metrificated.

ffs, if a teeny weeny little problem like that gets yer ****ed off, you've got the wrong vehicle.

Been havin a real bad day, went up to have an hour on the Landy ta relax an everythin was wrong, need a new swivel ball and them bolts wont fit so job stopped again and MOT money will have to be spent on more spares so really ****ed off today:(

OO OO ive got a s3wivel ball you can HAVE... good nick too!

Dnt bother with the drag link protector, none of my LR's have had them, no need really.

If you use it offroad it is essential to help minimise damage if you are unlucky enough to smack em. I bent both my arms on Salisbury plain back last year.:(

Mind you it was a right bastid getting the arm off cos it was bent into a z shape around the protector.

Just bloody ordered one:doh: Thanks anyway mate

And Ratty , the only off road I do is on the grass verge waiting for the AA :D

I've got a diff gaurd that doubles as a protector ,, just wondering what colour to paint it

any suggestions?

cancel the other mate an have mine! Im trying to shift them anyway.

An ratty, i see your logic but im afraid i dnt really understand how a 4 inch wide bracket can protect an entire 5 foot long tube, and another 4 foot one. :)

I bent my draglink off road, i drove over the end of a log and it popped up and wedged itself between the axle and the rod. was a real bastard to get it out an all!

The bit behind that 4 inch plate stayed straight (hence the z shape) if it wasn't there I would have had both front wheels pointing even further out. Even if I had a steering guard fitted it would have missed it and done the same. I replaced my steering arms with the heavy duty ones to try and stop it happening again.
