My front diff oil always seems to come out dark grey/black no matter how many times i change it. I must have done it 3 times now trying to flush the ****e out but still the same, obviously something is giving up but any ideas what?

I'd probably just assume that there's still a load of old mucky oil congealed in there somewhere (possibly in the breather pipe?). If your oil had come out milky gray in colour, that would signify water entering the diff through a damaged seal or leaking breather hole. If there's no gray in the oil I'd say it's water tight.

If you promise to be careful...

My Dad was the Chief Designer of the Rolls-Royce RB207 jet engine (now evolved to the Trent pushing Airbus 380s around).

His tip. Change oil for new when axle is warm. Add 30% Petrol and go for a GENTLE drive for 20 miles. Change oil again.

Job done.

Works brilliantly in gummed up auto boxes, 'cos you don't even need to do the second change in a hurry. The petrol evaporates and the filter takes care of the crud.

[I was thinking that was happening but no level bung on the swivel pin housing to check pussy]

SO IF U GOT WUN, THEN U KIN CHECK PUSSY....WOT DU THEM THINGS COST??
