Quick post as I've seen a few questions on the above. I have just replaced the front diff bush without major work. If you remove the RHS 2x bolts holding the RHS bush to the diff case, remove the three bolts holding the front diff bush, then force the diff over hard to the LHS and down, the diff bush comes out alloy legs first and a twist gets it through the narrow gap between the housing and diff itself. Getting new one in is harder as, hopefully, it is firmer and the middle won't twist. Insert exactly in reverse of the old one coming out, i.e bush first, alloy legs last, force diff down and across to the LHS again and a sharp tap with a piece of wood gets the centre bush past the casing. Easier than diff removal !!!! 1/2 hour in total. Note - LHS and RHS are referenced from forward facing - i.e. in drivers seat.

after reading your post, i went and had a go, took bolts out of front bush, r/h/s bush and bottom bolt from l/h/s bush. diff now swings about held in only by one bolt in l/h/s bush. shoved propshaft and diff over to l/h/s and the bush came out as you described. easy 20 mins. Getting the new one in was a feckin nightmare, need a mate to push propshaft while using two hands to wrestle new bush in. but as i have no mates i managed it myself. i am now sitting here chuffed to bits at doing it, but shoulders are fecking killing me. (paracetamol/whisky). thanks for the post. it was accurate.

Hi are we talking about the bush where the prop goes into the IRD.......I notice mine is weeping slightly and I was considering replacing seal.........I assume there is a bush behind the seal.......which you are referring to??? or are we talking where the drive shafts go into unit.....bit confused.....can you clarify...

hi, we were talking about the Differential bushes, the diff is held by three brackets, each has a rubber bush, the bush on the front of the diff is notorious for failing. the one you are thinking is the IRD shaft seal, do a search on here for IRD and you will find info. good luck.
