I need to change the front crank shaft seal on my 4.0 P38, 2001MY as I have a bit of an oil leak.
Not done it before so how long should I allow; also any difficult bits...

Cheers

I do intend on using rave, just wondered how long I sshould allow as its my daily vehicle...
Rave is good but does not have empathy for things that become difficult on a 12 yr old vehicle. I always appreciate the voice of experience.

Personally I would book a weekend for the job...but I am slow and ridiculously methodical !!!!

Stand corrected. No need to remove cover. Once the pulley is off the old one can be levered out and the new one pushed/tapped in squarely. Make sure you get the later type. (From a previous post by Denis).

Biggest problem is getting the crank bolt on/off as its 270Nm or 200 lbf.ft to tighten. You can get a special tool LRT-12-080 for this but somone on here will probably have a simple fix. Also you are supposed to use special tool LRT-12-088 to remove old seal but as above it maybe that you can just lever it out (carefully).
