Hi all. When changing a drop link at the weekend I noticed that the brake where wearing down unevenly. So after an inspection the bottom slider had stiffened up. I manage to tap it out and found that the grease had gone hard, so cleaned it up. For now I put copper grease in and slides fine. Will this grease be ok or should I be using another type.

On another note I now need new brake pads. Go for genuine and green stuff?. Marty

copperslip will bake and go hard once its heated up a little. i know people put it all over brakeparts but its not a good idea on the sliders.

I always use CV joint grease in the slides. The Freelander uses a rubber anti squeak section one slide, with age the rubber swells causing sticking. I swap to the Rover slides as they don't have the rubber section.

Thanks for the replies. For what the price is ill get I new set of pins. As I now need new pads as a result of the uneven ware ill give them a bit of a service while I am at it. Thanks guys.

From which Rover model are your slides?
