what a feckin surprise - Head gasket is gone in on my ****ass 1.8 freelander 1, was just curious is upgrading to a v6 engine as easy as lifting the old one out and putting the new one in??

or am i stuck with the same lame ass 1.8 until I scrap the beast :p

Lots of different parts needed for that change, Wiring, ecu, half, shafts, rads,IRD.

Would be far more than just buying a V6

the 220 lump bolts on to the same box (input shaft change I think) so yu dont need new ird, halfshafts etc. Yup yu need the correct ECU and wiring - but if yu are clever yu get that at the same time. Not sure about Rads although the intercooler could be useful....

unless yu want to go 2wd in which case yu get the engine and box (complete with LSD).
You can pick the lot up for £150-200.

Used to break these things and the rads are different, Exhaust ..........

There is no way you could do it for less than just buying a V6, If you happened to have a V6 donor then you would still be looking at a long time in build.

oh well, stripped it out now.

replacing the blown head gasket with the 'supposedly' upgraded head gasket

had the head pressure tested and found a crack there, so getting that repaired, having it skimmed too

ordered a timing belt kit, may aswell change it while i'm doing the work

putting in a new water pump, flushing the radiator and cooling system.

while i'm in there does anyone have any suggestions of work that i should carry out??

heard something along the lines of some blanking mod, and drilling a hole in the thermostat??

suggestions appreciated

:)
