Hi I've had my freelander2 for about 3 year's now and touch wood not had any real problems. I noticed a few weeks ago a rubber appendage to the rear suspension arm. Looking at the off side I notice it's missing. Looked in Haynes Manuel it doesn't show one or what it does. Could anyone advise me .

Welcome:)

I am sorry I can’t help, but somebody familiar with FL will be along soon to help.

If you post a pic of said appendage it may help too

Then it's a mass damper. It's there to reduce a resonance in the suspension or drive train.
Yeah that's the one. Could this missing cause kids to be travel sick riding in back. Funny it's not shown in any Manuel new shockers don't come with one but can't source one on it's own. Anyway thanks for that at least I know what it is now.

It is available separately, the part number appears to be LR041112 which superceded LR007800.
You'll probably need the bolt too which is stated as BOLT HEXAGONAL HEAD, M6 X 14MM. A few part numbers pop up for this one, so I'm not 100 certain which is the correct one I'm afraid.

I just cut one of these vibration dampers off as some.clown had mounted it in the wrong hole and it had no clearance. HAVE YOU SEEN WHAT THEY'RE ASKING FOR THEM!? They're about £130 each! Might make one myself.

The damper itself is a really clever little unit. The combination of materials and fixing methods is quite smart. If I ever replace the shocks though, I'll be going without lol!
