Freelander1 propshaft uj

Hi all
Have a strange noise when going along when going over 30 that I can here only when the back windows are down. Having a look under I felt some play side to side in one of the uj on the front part to the shaft to vcu. One direction is solid and the other has slight movement. There seems no movement when trying to twist it .. The noise is like a vibration but can't feel it in the cab only with windows open. Am I looking I the right direction. Had a brows in the forums but can't find the same kind of symptoms. Front wishbones and diff rubbers on the menu today lol .

If you are getting side to side play in one plane of the UJ then it's best to replace it. When you get the shaft off, you might well find the the other plane without play, is stiff instead.

Ordinary lithium grease is all that's needed for the UJ. Moly will work if that's what you have.

The biggest problem is getting the old one out. If you can hammer it far enough one direction they have a metal cap which comes off revealing the spindle bearings. Then you can hammer it the other way to get the centre part out.

Many thanks have ordered UJ will see how much thumping it takes to get out when it gets here.😀
