Hi all, can someone give me some assistance with the following. I have a 1999 1.8 petrol freelander, has 62,000 on clock and overall is good condition. Problems:
  1. loosing water somewhere although previous owner claims to have done the head gasket. For some reason there is a hole in the expansion bottle, around 2mm diameter and purposely made. I cannot get the fans to cut in also and there never seems to be any coolant in the top inlet hose and hose gets really hot. Temp gauge shows only half maximum. although it starts off the zero position?
  2. starting first thing in the morning or after period of rest, the thing will start when turning the key, but as soon as pressure applied to the foot pedal it cuts out. have to do this a few times to eventually get it to run well, but still feels a bit under powered.
  3. i was planning to have a compression test made this friday?
any help appreciated.
