New here, so hi!!

I have a freelander 2 2011 sd4 sport model and had an issue of burning diesel smell through vents, along with reduced engine performance message on dash and when I popped the bonnet and as you look at it there is smoke from rear right hand side of engine coming from down the back, along with a wheezing air noise. It is difficult with the smoke and also the location of the smoke to identify the exact point it is escaping from. Does anyone know of most likely causes and any information on repairing. I am not a mechanic, although I am capable with following technical drawings and advice along with a familiarity with the required tools.

At a guess I would be checking the pressure sensor pipes on the exhaust system, which are down the back on the right as you look at the engine.

Update
I have just noticed that on my original post it says right hand side of engine, this was meant to say left side. I can only put this down to extreme tiredness, apologies for the error! With that said, I have in between very cold weather and lots of snow managed to try and get a look down the back either from above or below, and I am unable to locate the exact escape of smoke, I do reckon though from colour of smoke that it is exhaust smoke from either turbo hose, turbo exhaust gasket on the turbo or gasket at the actual exhaust end where turbo attaches. Could anyone either confirm or deny if all of that is a possibility and if so difficulty and any pointers in confirming leak location and advice on repairing
Thanks in advance

Normally random smoke down the LH side of the engine is from where oil drips out of the air intake pipe joint seal, and on to the turbo, where it burns off. This is easily fixed with a correct sized worm drive clip. I've put an arrow at the joint that leaks without a worm drive clip.
