Howdo all.

Stuck a short post on the intro thread but will put more details here as it looks like the part of the forum I'll spending most of my time.

Had my '04 Freelander Commercial TD4 facelift model for six months now and really like it but it wasn't long before the little problems started popping up.
The van is very clean with no rust, dents or scratches, interior is spotless and it came with £1500 in recent receipts - new cluth, recon gearbox, new brakes and brake lines and various other bits n bobs.
It had 80,000 on the clock so as soon as I got it home I had the VCU replaced and four Pirelli Scorpion tyres as the tyres that were on differed massively ( bald low profiles on the front and massive chunky off road rears)
First thing I noticed,no washer fluid for front widscreen.Still haven't sorted this, think pump is kaputt.??
Clutch is right on the floor and roughly every 6-7 weeks have to top up the small reservoir with fluid.
No reverse lights, worked a couple of times so maybe bad connection?
Got in the van a few weeks ago and the hazards started flashing, now the passenger door won't lock or unlock.
Last week same thing happened now the drivers door won't unlock, but will work with the key.It still locks with the fob though
Tailgate still locks/unlocks fine
Then to round it all off driver's side w/screen wiper packed in this week but armed with new found knowledge from this forum I managed to fix it all by my ham fisted self
Apart from the niggles I do really like the van - honest :)

Sorry for waffling on but any help or suggestions much appreciated.
I'm in Burnley if anyone knows a good independant nearby I'd appreciate it,I'm useless with a spanner and if it can't be fixed by hitting it with a large hammer then it's usually too much for me.

Cheers , Mick

Oh and while I'm at it , the heater is bloody useless. On cold days I put my dog in the van and get him to breath on me

regarding your heater have you tried bleeding it on the top pipe that goes into it there is a bleed screw on my td4 the heater is great , does the temperature gauge go up to the middle

"Last week same thing happened now the drivers door won't unlock, but will work with the key.It still locks with the fob though"

failed solenoid in the lock assembly, replace the whole thing, budget for £55 aftermarket, £75 genuine part, takes about an hour the first time, not hard, just fiddly.

I fitted one genuine and one pattern to mine, although the finish on the pattern was slightly lower quality, worked just as well as the genuine, both still going strong when I reluctantly sold mine.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated. Looks like 2 new solenoids then, at least I'll be able to fit a passenger in now.
I took the van to my usual mechanic and he mentioned about fitting a new slave/master cylinder but wasn't sure it would cure the problem and with the part being £90 I decided to not risk it but new hd3 has mentioned it and I've read a couple of threads on here it looks like the way forward
Thanks again
