reet ive read alot of threads on this with the problems rangeing from loose bits to driveshafts ,some of the threads are similar to the problem i have but i'll tell you the problem im experience first to see if anyone has had the same.:)reet when pulling away revs get to 1250 rpm a vibration is felt through gearstick until 1500 rpm this happens in every gear but in 4th and 5th its noticeably worse:(,at around 30mph in 5th gear it feels like the car is going to stall and the vibration feels as though it starts at the front of the car and makes its way to the back as the rpm goes through 1250 rpms upto 1500rpm and then nothing :confused:this is starting to bug me now .there is no lose of power and the car drives fine apart from this .i cant remember when this started but ive just picked up on this in the last month or so.:brick: i dont no if this makes any difference but this not only happens on pickup but happens when i take my foot off the accelerator and rpm goes from 1500 to 1250 rpm. if anyone has hade this problem and sorted it it would be very interesting to hear how they got to the bottom of it:D

How does the clutch feel? Mine felt ropey and occasionally almost difficult to get going. New clutch, slave and master cylinder and DMF and all good.
cheers mate:) i dont think its clutch related ,when my clutch was on its way out i could feel it through the clutch pedal.at first i thought it was a fuel system issue so ive changed the fuel filter added some fortron fuel system cleaner and checked sensors(and cleaned) like the maf .as i've said theres no lose of power and mpg seem ok:confused: its just bugging me when im driving along at 30 mph or so in 5th gear:mad2: next i might try taking the prop off or it could be front driveshaft problem but i dont want to assume things that could cost a small fortune :(or i could pay LR to diagnose it and do the repair myself to keep costs down, but as i've said the car drives fine.

engine mounts ?
injector(s) out of spec. ?

mine seems to have peak vibration @ about 1250 ..

watch the engine itself @ idle .. be a fair amount of vibration
the engine mounts will wear at somestage ..

cheers mate.now that rings a bell :cool:while under the bonnet the other day to see if could spot anything obvious i thought to myself i could put a cup of tea on that engine a while ago and it wouldnt spill:) so i will check the mounts for wear and tear ,i read somewhere how to check injectors buy pulling the leads off the plugs to see if there was any difference and if ther was a difference that ment the injector was ok :D:D

i had another poke about today trying to get to the bottom of this problem but with it getting dark earlier i didnt have much time :(but did get a bit more info to share and probably ruled out a lot of possible things:eek: the vibration happens without having to put it into gear:confused:could this means that the problem isnt driveshafts, gearbox, clutch, ird, propshaft:) if so this means im back to the fuel system :eek:fuel/p/sensor wiring harness, fuel pump ,injectors, maf sensor, maybe camshaft sensor(timing out?) i just dont know.where would i start to eliminate the possibilities without part swopping:brick:<i like that one.any tips would be gratefully appreciated:D

cheers mate.the dmf was very tight when i checked it in june while changing the clutch ,i reserched alot before testing it,so i dont think its that.and if so would it vibrate whilst engaged and under torque.

but happens when i take my foot off the accelerator and rpm goes from 1500 to 1250 rpm
would that not rule out .. more or less .. fuel/injection related bits 'n pieces .. ?

cheers mate:)i'm not ruling anything out because i dont know how to elininate the components :eek:and i know theres alot of knowledge in our forum;) so im just bouncing ideas around to see what comes up:D really im waiting for someone to advise me on ( HOW TO ) eliminate comp's.i think ive ruled out transmission so where do i go now:)

well re: post no.9

when you take yer foot off the go-pedal .. and the vehicle be in gear and moving ..
then the fuel is cut off altogether .. i.e. zero fuel injection ..

so if the vibe is there when you take right foot off ..
it's not fuel injection / combustion related .. in theory

cheers mate:)but i think the injectors are still working even when not on go pedal(idle or tick over) anyway as ive said i realized that the vibe is still there even in neutral:confused:so im getting a vibration in neutral at 1250rpm:brick:is there a connection between engine and gearstick when the cars in neutral:eek: if not could it be the balance weight on the gear linkage that ive read about:banplease:

foot off throttle and turning...

rattle and loose eggsause in my case...

cerieizine and brew = :O
hi guest O:)

but i think the injectors are still working even when not on go pedal(idle or tick over)

there Is fuel flow then .. obviously ..
but it cuts off when in gear and the vehicle weight is pushing it along
.. until idle rpm .. then it flows again ..

anyhow .. just re-read your o.p.
so it's just thru the gear lever you feel the vibes ??
tsk tsk .. no hand resting on gear lever .. it knackers the selector forks ..
so sayeth the hippo handbook manual thing ..

yeah .. there was a post some months back about the gear shift balance weight ..
can't remember what the problem was .. but .. the poster ended up cutting some of it off .. or thought about doing it ..

cheers mate:) tsk tsk .. no hand resting on gear lever .. it knackers the selector forks ..
so sayeth the hippo handbook manual thing .. WTF is that about:eek: so i think my next test is getting the hippo on stands with my trustee assistant (the wife ) to hold the revs at 1250 rpm and gettin a hold of gear linkages to see if the vibe stops:cool:

reet i've tried to find where this vibe is coming from today with no luck:eek: but i put my hand on top of the engine and it feels like an old sewing machine?i am now convinced that this is a sensor ,ecu or harness problem:(so i pulled the maf sensor lead to see if there was any change in engine note or drive, which there wasnt:( i also pulled the fuel rail sensor then the airfow sensor with no change,so i think the hippo is in default mode and strongly suspect that the maf is at fault.so i've made my mind up to have a diagnostics check done on the weakend:cool: does this have to be done at the steelers or can this be done at a tuning specialist;)

It'll be the weights on the gear selector. Stuff some rag around them nice and tight in neutral, and sit on the drive and gently rev it, it'll be as quiet as a mouse. Just don't get the rag wrapped up in moving parts.
If you get someone to hold the revs for you you'll see them vibrating.
I think from memory you need to cut the biggest weight in half.

cheers mate:) i've been under the hippo today(with it on stands):) and with a friend pressing the go pedal at 1250 rpm i held the gear links which stopped the vibration through the gearstick:cool:but while i was under i also got vibes through prop ,ird, gearbox, sump, tbh the whole engine :(so i really want to get to the bottom of this and not just mask the problem:(

cheers hd3:)i've read that thread and i think that this post is revelant in my case :(by altering the balance weight on the linkage you are changing the mass and therfor the harmonic frerquency required to feel the vibration, this in general dosn't fix the underlying problem.i have taken on board you post about the engine mount(s)but i couldnt see any damage or excessive movement.and with pulling all the sensors 1by1 with no evident change i'm drawn to a ecu default proberbly on the maf:(
