Hello, been working on this most of today reading the forum posts and trying the usual process of elimination.... I am puzzled
Heres what I have:
Freelander td4 2005 sallnaae7 5A463762.
1. extracted centrifugal fan (one horrid nut) and placed 12v battery across terminals - it turns fine, but, by the wiring it looks like it is a replacement (its a valeo unit).
2. Measured voltage at the fan plug: voltage is zero when fan switch is at the no fan position and
11.90V when at positions 1 and 2 - 3.4V when at position 4 ......
3. Fuse for fan motor in cab ok
4. No loose connections or shorted wires anywhere that I can see (and I've checked a few times now !)
5.. While messing about (my usual method) I noticed that when I press the switch that stops the ingress of outside air to the system (which presumably operates a flap of some sort down by the pollen filter). I can hear the flap motor struggling and then the light on the switch dims or goes out and then does not come on again if the ignition is switched back on. This, of course, may not be related to the fan....
Is there a relay for the fan somewhere that I should be checking?
(cant see it on the specs or web - and I AM getting a voltage at the plug..)
Any ideas greatly appreciated!
ps whoever specced the stupid bolts for the pollen filter needs a firm talking too...
thanks all
krgds
