Hi there - Rave for MY02 says relay R176 is in the engine compartment fuse box - Actually looking at it again perhaps not - the fuse box is prob within the dotted line ...:View attachment 129069

the relay is not shown on the fuse box diag View attachment 129072

searching RAVE for R176 yields nothing I'm afraid ---

I believe that the fan relay (r176) is in the internal fuse box. There's a small black relay in the box, which I suspect is the one. Unless it's not in the fuse box at all. There are a couple of relays to the right of the internal fuse box.

Thread resurrection.

I'm currently having problems with the blower motor in my 2005 TD4.

How do you remove the motor/fan assembly? It sounds relatively simple from the first post but no details provided about how it was removed.

Any tips for the next person who has to do this?

Very easy Hippo. The booster fan is accessible from the RH foot well. It's easier if the vehicle is an auto, as there's no clutch pedal in the way. There's only 3 screws and 1 electrical connection to remove, then the fan assembly just slips out the heater box.

What nodge said.

The three screws have a 6mm hex head. One of them is awkward to get to as the ducting slightly obscures it. I also had to grind down a long reach 6mm socket to get it to fit the awkward one as there is a ridge of plastic right next to it that prevented the socket from going on. I ground it down to make it slimmer.

As for the motor, I don't know what was wrong with it. It hasn't been working for a couple of days. Turning it on dimmed all the dash lights a little so I assumed it was drawing current but was stuck. After I took it out and checked it I plugged the power cable back in while it was loose in the footwell and tried it. It worked fine so I just put it back in. Might have just been a loose connection.
