Hi,

How is the Freelander in terms of security? Is it relatively secure? Or is it quite easy to break in and drive it off? Does it have many security features? (dead locks etc)

Not sure if it's worth buying any extra security devices for it.

Cheers

Rich

dead locks .movement detecter .engine immobilisa coded key good security rich iv got a crook lock to on the streering wheel but like any car if they know what there doing( flat deck lorry etc ) there get it hope this helps rich

The security is good. Dead locked doors, coded ignition (transponder in the squeaker), CCU manages imobliser to the ECU so there is no single point to attack. All good stuff.

Had the spare wheel stolen off my S-Reg once. Turned out there are only ten different patterns of locking nut, and a set of keys can be bought for less than the cost of a new wheel. Don't keep a brand new tyre on the back door.

Or turn the backdoor inside out, that way the spare is secured ......:D:D:D

Most modern cars with an air bag fitted are only worth knicking if you have the keys. Cos the air bag blows up and kicks the immobiliser in, fuel cut off etc.
Most stearing wheel locks can be taken off within 2 minutes. Save your money :)
Most cars are now stolen too order (freelander 1's are too old to bother with)
The best advice I can give is, the freelander has a big boot and thieves love 4x4's cos you can load em up (with your stuff from your house) and out run the police across muddy fields and plough through fences etc. They can only be taken WITH THE KEY. Do not leave your keys on display, hide the spare set, do not put your house keys on the same ring as your car keys.;)

Don't ask how I know this, just take the advice.

Cheers
