Freelander Sat Nav system

Hi everyone, good to join you and hoping for some sensible feedback.

I am very disappointed with the 3 year old sat nav software supplied with my new Freelander (Frumplander as my cynical son calls it). Can anyone point me to a web site where I can get an update without spending the £200 that Land Rover want for an upgrade. I know that the system installed is a Becker, but can't find out what model.

Hi from memory if you turn on unit press nav and last button on bottom row at same time the unit should beep then use on and off knob will scroll through model no software level 01 on end causes unit to freeze up newer software was better,if unit does freeze press 1,3 and tp all at the same time for a restart if this dosent work pull the fuse, press 1 and last bottom button and it will show forward and reverse and a speed input ,you can get the software on ebay but beware, i hope this helps tiga

I know exactly how you feel. My new 2006 model Freelander came complete with 3 year old sat nav software, did not recognise any of the new roads, nor my postcode that had been changed 2 years previously. However, I took it back to the dealer and they contacted Landrover direct and were supplied with a new 2005 upgrade which they loaded for free. The 2005 upgrade is still not perfect but only does not recognise new roads built in previous six months. Try talking to a different Land Rover dealership.

Anyone got a recent CD for the UK for the Becker head unit that they wouldn't mind me copying (happy to pay a small price!). I got my Freelander a couple of months ago, and didn't get the map CD Or alternatively I am happy to make a copy and send the original back to anyone if preferred? Land Rover quoted me £150+VAT for a 4 disk set which includes UK and Europe maps!

I have the original single disc which is now 3 years out of date and a 2 disc version 8 which I bought off e.bay. This has now been superseded by version 9 on 4 discs. Both versions which I have cover the whole of Europe and work really well, you are welcome to a copy of either. Not sure how to contact you. If tigapiglet can get the latest version for around £65 that sounds good value.

Is there an updated software set of CD's for the US? I have a 2003 Discovery HSE and have the update that went out for that Harman/Becker head unit in June 2003 (v1.5 update)......is there anything newer?

Hi, I have just go my Sat Nav working but dont know what make it is but I do have a home made CD with it which I may be able to copy, it has the whole of Europe and seems to be well up to date with the roads near us.

Did you have any luck with making the copy CD as I would be very interested also? I have tom tom on my PDA but would like to get my freelander sat nav working (the one which came with it when I bought the Freelander second hand turns out on closer examination to be a rover version not landrover and wont work).

Just want to see how useful it would be to use the freelander's sat nav for a bit and any help would be welcome.
