Presumably this hippo had a roll cage fitted? or are the roofs that strong?

They are strong because they have integral rollover cages fitted. I'm not sure whether or not this one had an aftermarket one as well. Someone posted a photo showing one which was intentionally put onto its roof to show how strong it is. Although I'm sure the crane put it down gently. :p

hi

As this is a rally class freelander it will have to comply with FIA rally rules to compete, which includes an internal roll cage.

Actually looking more closely at those camel trophy freelander pics, i'm more concerned about the cyclist that appears to have been buried under the lander. :O lol I hope its one of those useless lycra wearing roadies! not a crazy downhiller :)

and if you can't see what i'm talking about look just under the door,

You can see the internal roll cage in the internal shots.
