Freelander RHD to LHD conversion

I`m contemplating the above conversion.

Has anyone any tips advice on this matter.

I know i`ll need a LHD rack, but i`ve been told that all the other parts are interchangable.

I had a look around my steering colum and there seems to be a huge metal part jutting out from the bulkhead, this is where the steering colum and part of the pedals connect. I`ve been told this need to be removed and fitted/welded to the other side.

Is there any other cutting or welding I would need to do, eg for the other side to accomodate the steering rack and pedals, or are the cutouts already there.

I will have to wait until the weather gets better and remove the whole dash to get a better idea, if know one can tell me otherwise.

surely cheaper to sell up and buy a left-hooker?
and less hassle?

do a search on here m8, its been covered loads o times and usually ends up with buying a left hand drive instead of converting.....

Well there are people that will do it, converted freelanders are flying out of this country.

Anyone know where I can get hold of a LHD steering rack and pipes from?

sounds like a lot of unneeeded arseache-but gaylander drivers are used to that

Don`t know about landrovers but nissan`s have chassis strenghtened on drive side. Left hand and right hand floor structure totally different

Try ebay in one of the european countries for bits. Don't know if you'll need a dash as well or not. Got to agree with the others, sell up & buy a left hander. It'll work out cheaper unless you come across a scrapper.

There is no real difference in RHD and LHD freelanders. The dash is assembled in a different way, but uses the same part. Put steeringwheel where passenger airbag used to be. And rewire...
Although I agree this alone isn't worth the hassel...

Then you'll need to change wipers, steering assembly, headlamps, pedals etc.etc.

I'm curious: why? Even outside of the UK there's quite the market for RHD freelanders.
