Hi there. New here and looking for help from people who know more than I!

I have a LR Freelander 2 2014 that started making a random, loud popping noise from the speakers. This would make the radio and Bluetooth reconnect and then everything would be normal. This has now got to the point of almost being constant popping sounds, to the point I’ve looped the amplifier out to get rid of all audio noise.

My rear upper break light did leak and was realised prior to this problem. Could this be linked?

Not seeing this exact problem on other threads anywhere I can see. Please help!

Thank you

I'd have a diagnostic run on the infotainment system to see what codes come up.
It's possible the popping noise is from the amplifier itself, as electrical failures of amplifiers often results in popping noises from the speakers.

Is there any evidence of damp around the amplifier or other components of the audio system?

Thanks for the reply! Having had the side panels off both sides in the boot I didn’t particularly see any evidence water had or was leaking in or that anything was damp.

From everything I have read the amplifier was the first thing I was going to possibly change if I was going to carry on trying to sort this myself. There are so many amplifiers with slightly different product numbers on them though. Do I need the exact same one do you know?

Generally the replacement amplifier needs to have the same numbers, as there are many variations of them. Also a replacement amp often needs to be configured to the system, as the audio system is all software controlled.
