Well, the Freelander was picked up yesterday (Friday) the wife drove it home, then I went off to work.

Today went for a bit of a spin.....chucking it down, cab steams up...ahh turn air con on that'll soon clear it up I thought!! Erm....no!!

Got home lifted the bonnet, found the A/C compressor, switched on, looks as though the solenoid hasn't pulled in (outer part of pulley stationary)

Just nipped out tonight, thought....I'll just see what the different stages of lighting look like.......no side lights on passenger side..

Also can anybody tell me if the radio/heater/electric window controls should illuminate when the lights are turned on??

I feel a phone call to the $tealer coming on tomorrow!!

Cheers

Hi guys thanks for the replies ;)

Another thing I noticed.......when I turn full lock (either way) then reverse, it seems as though the brakes are on a little (won't freewheel down my drive as my other cars have done) it's fine when steering is straight.

Is this normal??

Thanks

I think you forgot to spell check that post......should it have read :

"It's a known fault (mis-design characteristic)"

:)

yes - but i keep being accused of whingeing...

such as the "Overtemp inhibitor system" (head gasket failure)
"offroad limitation restrictor" (cracking chassis)

yu get the point? :D

just ask Minge, Snot, Mondeo etc....

Had a look at the internal lights on my Y reg ES TD4 and all the buttons on the dash and the centre console have rear lights. Stereo and heater controls light up to. No lights within the stalks for lights and winscreen wipers.

Steve :)

Update of the visit to $tealers:

AirCon - Short of gas....seems a bit strange for an 11 month old car?

Side lights / dash illumination - blown fuse....replaced all ok

Steering - all normal (as already posted)

So I was a happy bunny, no charge & car washed too..............well so I thought

On the journey home (15 miles) I noticed the wipers were slow...no worries I thought. Got ½ mile from home & ABS, TC & HDC warning lights came on, then lost speedo & rev counter.
Turned engine off when I got home, then it wouldn't start.
Rang $tealer in not a very good mood!! Explained situation.
Then arranged for Landrover Assist to come out to see if they could sort it, guy came out (within the hour), found battery to be flat & not charging.
After looking in the fuse box, alternator fuse was missing!! It just so happens that this fuse is directly above where the spare fuses are and is the same size fuse as that for the side lights....bit of a coincidence??

Fuse was replaced, now charging ok.

Rang $tealer again to inform him of the incompetence of his staff!! He said he 'owed me one' & would 'look after me' when the car is in for a service.

One bit of info that made me feel more up-beat was the fact that the Landrover Assist mechanic said he had not been to a HGF on a facelifted model 1.8.

Cheers

Well the fuse has blown again only 4 days later

Rang $tealer, he said it would be ok to replace with a new fuse in the interim period to getting it back to be checked.

Being a sparky by trade I'm a little worried about just replacing blown fuses without finding the cause.

What thinks you lot??

Oy! you best not be tryin to poach my customers  ;)

Stick another one in mate,:D As long as the fuse keeps blowing, no hastle! The dealers aware of it so if it goes tits up Its down to them, after all thats all they've done, bung in another fuse,;) :p :D

The motor went back to dealers to have the fuse problems sorted for the second time.

Took them 3 days to find the fault was in the wiring harness which went to the front passenger door.

All ok now.....well so far!!
