Hi,

I was hoping for a little help. I'm looking to change my car (BMW 320 e46 M sport Coupe)
as my recreational sport (Fishing) is getting hindered by where i can take my car being a low sports car and having to drive on hard gravel, pot holes and some green lanes. I was looking at an 2004 1.8 Xei Freelander with about 80,000 on the clock. I have read up a lot on the vehicle with the problems and finding a few mixed reviews. My eyes and heart really like the look of these vehicles, But my heart of hearts from a lot of reviews tell me No. Just looking for a little advice.

Don't do it! Yu may be thinking " they can't all be that bad?". Believe me, the majority are.

Always go for a diesel Freelander ( and make sure it has a propshaft!!!

Have a look around this site there is a load of advise on all models which may help make your mind up diesel is better in my opinion but the choice is yours:)

Thanks for the help guy's I will be doing a lot reading here then lol. My initial thoughts were a diesel engine and going by what I had read. I was looking at x trails and crv's but the freelander just seems to stick out to me more than any other. I was thinking excactly that "they cant all be bad". I had a deal lined up for one. And thanks for the second piece of advice will get my bum over to there soon.
;)

In my experience, and a lot of research, the Auto Diesel TD4 have less problems. I have had a petrol manual 55 reg and a diesel auto TD4 06 reg and loved both.....but the TD4 has a better reputation and fewer problems.

Now I love my Free Lander 2, again diesel automatic :) Still spending money, but she's worth it!
