Hmm - is there a plan of the standard pipe work?

It seams one of the pipes is spilt with a Y connector? wonder how difficult this would be to make one up out of whats left on the freebie and hose off the spool?

Well I finally got the epc for the landrover range, but I cant find any decent diagrams of the stock cooling system like the one posted on this thread of the FBH cooling system.

The disk also doesnt list any parts what I can see for the FBH??

Stumped?

Thought this might amuse you.....

Testing the FBH I bought from eBay (didn't want to fit it and then find out it didn't work!):
- Holes cut in the bottom of a bucket, coolant hoses shoved through and silicone sealed
- Fuel pump cable tied to basket and fed from a fuel can
- Croc clips to battery

It heated the bucket of water in about 3 mins (faster than my kettle!!)

I can now say a few things for certain:
> Positive goes to pin-1 of the 2 pin connector
> Negative goes to pin-2 of the 2 pin connector
> Pin 6 of the 6-pin connector goes to the fuel pump (either terminal of the fuel pump, it doesn't matter which way around the pump's hooked up). Connect the other pin of the fuel pump to negative.
> Once it's all connected up, connect pin 1 of the 6 pin connector to the positive and hey-presto, the heater fires up! Disconnect it, and about 3 mins later the heater shuts down.
> Leave pin 3 disconnected, unless you want to run auto-heating.

I'm now off to figure out how to connect the thing into the coolant system.

Good one James keep us posted if you can work out how to connect it to the vehicles water system without purchasing those expensive hoses I would be one happy chappy.

I'm sure someone must have come across this before?

I'm gonna keep trying. I've been looking at Haynes/LR/Microcat pictures for ages, and have only succeeded in confusing myself!!

Webasto say that the heater should be plumbed into the cooling system upstream of the heater matrix... and that's it. Although....it looks as tho Landy have done summat funny, 'cause I keep coming back to the conclusion that it is wired in parallel, not series.

The only fly in the ointment is that there is the IRD cooler to take into account.... would you want to preheat the IRD as well as the block.... I dunno.

I'm busy trying to find a local (to Preston) who has a FBH fitted, it's one of those things that you need to see in the flesh I think. There's no shortage of places selling hose & moulded bends, so once I've figured out what I'm trying to acheive it shouldn't be that difficult (famous last words!)

I would think the last thing you would want to do is heat the IRD - if you heat it - it will just form condensation inside the IRD unit. It runs hot - the water system is designed to cool the IRD - not heat it.

Erm.... I've looked at it lots (and thought about it)!!!

Still not bought the fuel line, and had 'issues' with the hoses I got from ebay (naemly a great big split in a 'new' hose!)

Will keep you posted.

Heck, is it repairable?

I had a look at the pipe layout in a pre fitted one, there are a lot of pipes. I have ordered a set of new pipes, expensive. Famous four was the cheapest I could find. Then I came across the problem that I had put the fog lamps on last year!!!! Dooh (again)

I have a look though and see if I can work something out.

I have also come to the conclusion I think its cheaper to buy a brand new kit from landrover as an extra, unless it comes with all the bits your stuffed. Most breakers cut the hoses to get the IRD out then the engine, and quite a few don't even know what your on about!!

Nah it ****ed it down and now they've moved onto how to stop the door from falling off and how to stop sellotape from losing it adhesiveness when exposed to sunlight.

Yep, I did it had to buy the proper hoses for the water side, found a fuel pump (new) on ebay fuel hose and fittings from a local supplier 1/2 a day figuring out how to get my f/bumper mounted fog lights in with the heater, even had remote control and timer.....
Took it out 2 months later and sold the FR.........

Yes worked like a dream, had a chip shop smell about it (work that one out).

Had a little employment issue so the FL had to go in return for a smaller diesel, so I stripped the FL of all its goodies. Shame really I had a good time in the FL....
