Hi, I'm just gearing up to fit a webasto FBH to my Freelander, hear is what I have found out:

I'm preaty sure I can make the wiring loom going on the information Webasto has provided me, I will have to source the Air temp switch if I want it to work as a supplementry heater though.

I will also have to source the connection plugs or ethier do a soldering job.

From the pics provided from webasto they fit a silencer by cutting the exhust pipe, were as by the looks of things the standard fit one just exits under the front bumper (pic found on the forum, thanks).

I will also have to source a doser pump which I believe fits under the off side rear wheel mud guard type thingy, and a fuel pick up and line. The pick fits onto the existing pump exit at the tank having to cut a nipple off.

Question: Am I on the right lines so far?

Connecting the water hose's, I think a cut is needed in the hose that travels from the heater box the cylinder, not sure on this one if anyone can post any pics for me or email me them.

Any help or tips would be appreciated.

Thanks Daren

Yep, you're on the right lines.

heres a diagram of the cooling system (see attachment)

Daren, I'm also about to fit a FBH. I've found the following info (not checked any of it out on my FL yet tho!):
- The basic loom (power & signal lines to the fuel pump) and connector should already be there for the heater.
- The loom & connector for the pump is already there, as is the bracket to fit it into. You are right, the fuel tank has an auxillary take off line that you can use for the fuel feed.
- The exhaust goes straight down and out through a hole infront of the NSF wheel arch. As far as I can make out, the silencer is not a mandatory part....?

Of more use to you is......I've got the following as pdf's:
- complete Land Rover fitting instructions for the full FBH kit
- the Webasto workshop manual
- the Webasto trouble shooting guide
- the Webasto timer module installation guide

PM me your email address and which ones you want :)

James

I wouldn't worry about the silencer, but if you do eventaully find it too noisy, they are only about £15 from Webasto.

Cheers

Sorry....Newbie time....didn't realise you could upload things!!

I've just tried to attach them, but I get told they're too big (>19.5Kb)

LR_FBH_Instructions.pdf (1.2Mb)
LR_FBH_Silencer.pdf (577Kb)
LR_FBH_Timer.pdf (264Kb)
Webasto_Op_and_Maintenance.pdf (109Kb)
Webasto _Install_Instr.pdf (461Kb)
Webasto_parts_ list.pdf (1Mb)
Webasto_workshop_manual.pdf (485Kb)

If anyone can tell me how to upload them, then I will!!

if you go into most window progs , you can reduce file size for attatchments or failin that use a stand alone photo prog most er those have email down sizing, worth havin er fiddle first as too small un nobody can see it or picture quality is crap. . . .:)

I'd like to see you get a 12 page 1.2Mb pdf down to < 19.5kb, each page is 100K at max compression (or 200Kb jpeg at a big enough size to see what's going on!) ;)

ok so your jist an earthling who duny understand yer earths limited technology. . .not your fault yer thick. . . .

OK folks, I have now found a problem.

After pursuing the installation plan, I need to get a set of water hoses, however on enquires I have found these pipes aren't available separately, you have to buy the whole heater again?

This cant be right

Any ideas

I've been down this route too!! You CAN buy all the hoses seperately - I'll put the picy from RAVE on later, but the following order numbers are contenders at present:

JHB000100 - FBH to Water Pump (small FBH bit) - £11.41
JHB000140 - FBH to Water Pump (to main coolant system) - £53.99

JHB000170 - FBH to Heater (small FBH bit) - £10.73
JHB000160 - FBH to Heater (to main coolant system) - £74.76

JJC000010 - Valve (less hot climate) - £13.49 (not sure if this bit is required)

Given that the FBH needs to be plumbed in 'serial' with the existing cooling system I'm going to investigate putting my own hoses together..... total cost for genuine LR is too steep for me at the mo (and costs more than I paid for the FBH!). Anyone got any views on this one?

I'm also chashing around scrappers... but with little success :(

It would REALLY help if someone with an FBH already fitted could put a couple of picys of the hose setup (mainly the bit around the heater matrix feed).... anyone???

wow - I was in Halfords at lunch time they have hose off the spool, cant believe those LR prices. I have also contacted LR customer service to complain that you cant buy the hoses, they did come back to me and said I'll have to buy the whole unit again, they didn't mention the parts in your message.

I need a fuel pump to £39 from LR local stockist £40 for a S/H one? I found the same when I was looking for the Heated seat switches, my local breakers wanted £15 each yet my LR stockist charged me £5 each. confused????
