Hey lads finally got my auto gearbox changed on my td4 freelander but have very bad vibrations from driveshaft inner cv seems like it had play it’s letting out my atf fluid when you check it for play. So just gone to buy a driveshaft and thought is there a difference between the auto td4 and manual td4 or do thay use the same drive shafts tried to google it but not pulling up much anyone have any advice on this would be greatly appreciated

If the fluid is coming out the box, then the problem isn't the driveshaft. It sounds like the gearbox support bearing aren't supporting the CV joint correctly.

If you need new shafts, then only use OE (GKN) or genuine shafts. If the inner VC is round, instead of the shaped original type, then the shafts will vibrate.

Where are thay located ? Iv had oil leak out before changed a driveshaft seal on the box and solved it but that was another box this one the n/s front driveshaft seems to be no good I can inspect more was I replace it along with the seal just don’t know if thay use different shafts and thank you for advice if I can find where it’s located I will try to inspect it thanks

The bearing in the box, which supports the driveshaft. If the shaft is moving about in the gearbox enough to allow the fluid out, then the support bearing in the box has too much slop. Replacing the driveshaft probably won't cure the leak, simply because the bearing isn't holding the shaft in alignment securely enough for the oil seal to do its job.

Right ok thank you for simplifying it for me I’m still learning how do I go about that is that a gearbox back out job or can it be replaced with it still on ? And dose anyone know where I can buy a new bearing if you can buy them ?
