Daren't ask this anywhere else on here or I will probably get banned in the new world :D

I've just been discussing this Landyzone joke, which I believe was based on fact, elsewhere. Now I cant find the post on here

Anyone remember it and have a link

No links, I am afraid. And there would be many, it has been a longstanding joke on LZ for many years. :)

I don't know if it was based on fact. I do know @Hippo always denies that it has happened to him.

For the record, I myself have never seen the door fall off a Freelander. I have seen the rear door fall off a Defender, due to very rusty frames, and a heavy spare wheel hung on the door.

It's probably best posting Freelander related stuff in this ere second Freelander section as they're all mad int first Freelander section. Probably start banging on about vcu's anorl.

Many years ago a Freelander 1 owner washed his Freelander. For thems who dun't know what washing is... it's when yer clean muck oft something to make it clean. The process is similar to washing yer socks and pants int bath with yer. Problem is a Freelander won't fit int bath so we normally wash them outside instead using buckets of water with car washing soap, then rinse with clean water to remove soap/muck.

Anyways he was doing a thorough clean which included opening all the doors and cleaning around the doors and the door frames. As the doors and frames were wet due to washing he left the doors open to dry. Later on he reversed his Freelander oft the drive to move it out the way and forgot the nearside passenger rear door wasn't closed. The door swung open and hit his garden wall. End result the door was bent further open than normal and bent some of the metalwork. He was pi**ed oft but accepted it was his mistake. Damage done and repair needed. It was said from there on that Freelander door's fall oft when wet because of this, when they dun't.

The door never fell oft. It just wouldn't shut propper after because of the bent metalwork. It was posted on ere in the first Freelander section many years ago. Problem is it's so far back in time we can't find it. That dun't mean the search is over. The main problem is the search engine on LZ only provides 199 search results. I've tried many times to find said post but with no success. Even tried goo gle with LZ as a prefix site anorl. I've looked through all fred titles and never spotted it. It may have been part of an on-going fred. I've been on ere since 2005 and remember it happening but can't pinpoint a rough year.

On the subject of me doors... I can confirm me doors have never felled oft. I can also confirm I purchased replacement doors but that was because I wanted some new locks. This was all done as part of some mod's I was doing to ma hippo.

Video below of a Freelander 1 int car wash. Although it's possible to do this It's not something I like doing as car washes tend to create a lot of swirl marks in yer paintwork. Also they're full of TFR traffic film remover which does clean it well but also strips oft the wax if yer waxed yer paintwork. Now yer probably thinking they put wax back on yer car in a car wash... well that's not the case in most of them. Most of what they put on is filled with silicon's so it makes it look waxed but it int. Hence why it dun't last. I dun't use car washes because of this.

I'm ok thanks.

That particular video was filmed to annoy @Vagrant who am sad to say is no longer about. He was concerned about me doors getting wet when opened and falling oft. So I filmed it for him. I was careful not to get wet seats. Trying to hold the camera and pick up the bucket of water wasn't easy hence the wobble but we were ok.

Our Hippster is a true HERO ... even if he is only a 'lets-pretend I'm a Tratterer Gaylanderer' :p:p:p

In a puddle by a farm gate if memory serves :p:p

I see you decided to drive through all the mud, rather than over the wet grass at the side.
Good move! :D
Pic was taken a Bala 4x4 which sadly is now closed. After driving through it I realised it was full of the run oft from the hill where the sheep graze. Water stunk of sheep sh**. If I had the option again I'd drive round it and save a lot of time washing under it to get rid of the smell.

Sheep smell bad, but not as bad as goats. :(
