Hi There.
I Have just changed the Front brake pads on the freelander,
on removing the old ones I noticed the pads had shims on the back of them held on place by two small lugs. Are these shims required when fitting the new pads .

Hi There,
With the shims fitted to the rear of pads, the calliper will not fit over even with the calliper piston pushed fully back. But will fit if the shims are removed.

Probably some sort of anti-squeal setup. If you use Landrover O/E pads then they will fit back on ok. Aftermarket pads might be a little thicker which is why your having problems.
