Hello everyone.

I live in Pembrokeshire, West Wales and I've got a 2002 Freelander Mk1 K-series.
Its a vehicle that's been sitting unused for ages but time has come that I'd like to have a play and get things up and running!
The vehicle was running fine, when I used it last 3 months ago, but I've gone to start it up today, started fine, but it seems the alternator belt has snapped and is now laying under the vehicle! Having a feel around it would seem the alternator does not turn, seized, so I'm guessing that's the reason its snapped.
I can post this somewhere else if I need to but your advice on whether I need to replace the alternator, or if there seems any other fix would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Look up Gold Lion Autoelectrics on ebay. They have rebuild kits and bearings, and even videos on how to fit the parts.

For now, why not try to free the alt up? It might just need a few taps here and there, and a blow out with a compressor.

It's not uncommon for the K series alternator to seize but it's normally confined to the MGF. Try to free it with a spanner on the end nut. If it won't free of then spin smoothly, a replacement is needed. ;)
