As anyone know why the white stuff keeps running down the removable back ?
It wipes off and don’t leave a Mark it’s like a powder when dry

That’s actually not my Freelander it’s one for sale on eBay
mine as done it for 3 years but not as bad
The back is not dry but definitely not full of water

What I did on mine and it helped was I took off the hard top, clean it real good (the rubber seal) and then sprayed some silicone spray on it.

Easy to fix issue.
Remove the hardback first.

Then clean off the rubber seals with hot soapy water (washing up liquid), then rinse off thoroughly and allow to dry properly.
Do the same with the seal contact surfaces on the vehicle body.
Then get yourself some plumbers silicone grease (used for assembling plastic waste pipes), and apple sparingly to the hardback seal, and body seal areas.

The silicone grease will allow the seal to slide to the correct position against the body, and prevent water getting through.
Wipe off any visible excess grease, and your done.

I've got to do the same job on the wife's VW Eos, as the roof has a small leak, and creaks too, which the silicone grease trick will cure.
